Wendell T. Phillips Jr.
Founder & President
Wendell T. Phillips Jr. comes from an entrepreneurial family and always desired to own his own business. After graduating summa cum laude from Babson College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management, he intended to pursue his dreams. However, he struggled with his mental health dealing with OCD, anxiety, and depression. Incapable of bearing the responsibilities of a business owner he relegated himself to the role of an employee, working at Fidelity Investments administering pension benefits. He later served as Town Accountant for Milford, MA overseeing an annual budget of just under $100 million dollars, and a budget of $63 million for the construction of a new school. Although achieving success in these positions, Wendell felt disheartened as he was not acting on his true ambitions and was privately struggling with OCD. There were times when OCD controlled his daily life, and he doubted if he would ever lead a normal life. Through the help of his parents, counseling, and by forcing himself to continuously face his fears, he began to improve. His fight helped him develop commitment and confidence while also serving to put business struggles into perspective.
After losing 8 years of his life to OCD, Wendell overcame these adversities and became a better person and a better businessman. OCD taught him the importance of a positive mindset and a never quit attitude when it comes to accomplishing goals. Regretting he had postponed his life and dreams for 8 years, he was determined to stop wasting his time and talent and to make the most of the next 8 years. Refocused on his goals, he founded Phillips Luxury Homes Corporation and began building luxury homes. While successful, growth was slower than he would have liked, and he desired to make a bigger impact. Time being his most valuable resource and not willing to waste any more of it, Wendell decided to pivot and focus on executing a roll-up in the self storage industry believing it would provide the best opportunity to fulfill his dreams.
Inspired by the impact of business titans like Andrew Carnegie, Henry Ford, and Cornelius Vanderbilt, Wendell desires to build his own legacy and make a significant impact on business in America as quickly as possible. He desires to surround himself with a team of good people and make a positive impact on the lives of board members, employees, and customers.
